Notes: Uncle Jeff admitted he was dragging a bit which played a major role in the progression of the show. It began quiet and gained speed with time. The first trak, Pickup Truck by Jimmy Work, was dedicated to Doc and was a musical prize for the excellent show he had constructed on Saturday.

The first two elegant sets were oldies and contained Ellington's Moon Mood, my hot pick of the show. Moon Mood has a unique arrangement of fiddle, horns, and woodwind instruments and is classified as the, "What ever else we want to play" segment of the show. This tune replicated Uncle Jeff's mood at the time of it's playing. I understand why Route 78 West produces a cross section of the country genre, but I'm tempted to go back through some of the shows and put together 2 hours of great oldies. At his point it would be easy. Time, time, time... more, more, more.

I also enjoyed the tweaked surf set beginning at 6:28 p.m. I consider it altered because of the addition of Tinariwen and Buckner... but the arrangement was thought out and smooth and that's what counts in my book.

Ukulele Loki kept Uncle Jeff's motor running through the show and by the end Jeff was charged up for Tom's Tavern. We continued the tradition, but here lately the shake machine has been broken so we are drinking unwholesome drinks. See ya next week.

Check out Lucero on November 15th at the Fox Theatre. More notes soon.
